DUAL-VENT
The greatest threat to battery energy storage systems (BESS) is thermal runaway caused by a faulty battery. Even a single defective cell can trigger thermal runaway, which can lead to a very serious uncontrolled fire or explosion.
Fire Protection Issues in BESS
Fire suppression systems typically installed in BESS are not capable of providing adequate protection against this phenomenon.
This is well illustrated by numerous expert assessments.
It is critically important to ensure sufficient "ventilation" of BESS in the event of detecting flammable gases or during an explosion.
DUAL-VENT perfectly meets these requirements, as it can operate effectively in both situations.
VENTILATION WITH GAS DETECTION (NFPA 69)
One method to reduce the risk of thermal runaway is the early detection of gases leaking from faulty batteries using appropriate gas detectors.
Our DUAL-VENT system allows for the activation of the ventilation opening immediately after these gases are detected.
This opening facilitates the expulsion of flammable gases outside, significantly reducing the risk of fire and explosion.
After ventilation is complete, DUAL-VENT can automatically close.
VENTILATION AFTER EXPLOSION (NFPA 68)
In the event that thermal runaway goes out of control and results in an explosion, the DUAL-VENT system, which has undergone dynamic testing and features a certified explosion-proof vent, will open under the influence of the overpressure created by the explosion.
All panels from the Arc-vent series are compatible with DUAL-VENT.
DUAL-VENT is an effective solution for reducing the risks and consequences of thermal runaway in battery energy storage systems (BESS).
This product is the only one on the market that complies with NFPA 68 and 69 standards. It represents a highly competitive and smart investment compared to less effective alternative systems.
